FUNDED-ONLY PLACES

Can I use only my funded entitlement?

Funded-only children attend for 38 funded weeks each year. They are not required to purchase childcare during the remaining weeks when the nursery is open.

Minimum attendance requirement

Our standard privately paid places require a minimum booking of two full days each week.

Children accessing funded-only hours have the same opportunity to secure an available place as children accessing funded hours alongside additional privately paid sessions. Purchasing additional hours does not give priority when allocating an available funded place.

Places are allocated in accordance with our Admissions Policy.

For families using only 15 funded hours

A separate funded-only attendance pattern is available, and families are not required to purchase the remaining hours of two full days.

Childcare outside funded weeks

Childcare outside the 38 funded weeks may be booked privately at the published session rates, subject to availability. Purchasing these additional weeks is optional.

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL SERVICES

Understanding the £1.76 hourly consumables charge (3-4 year-olds only)

Families of 3-4 year-olds accessing funded-only hours may be offered optional consumables and additional services at £1.76 for each funded hour attended. This charge is separate from the funded childcare entitlement, shown separately on invoices, and may be declined in line with our opt-out arrangements.

What does the £1.76 charge cover?

The optional £1.76 hourly consumables and additional-services charge contributes towards daily meals, care and hygiene essentials, and optional events and celebrations provided during funded attendance.

🍽️ Daily meals
Morning snack · Freshly prepared lunch · Tea

👶 Care and hygiene essentials
Nappies · Wet wipes · Barrier creams · Sun cream

🎉 Events and celebrations
Summer concerts and events · Christmas celebrations and presents · Birthday celebrations, including each child baking their own cake to take home

These additional services are optional. Families who choose not to purchase them can use our opt-out arrangements.

What happens if a family opts out?

Families who opt out may provide suitable meals, snacks and agreed care essentials from home, subject to the nursery’s allergy, food-safety and storage procedures. Where this is not practicable, the nursery will discuss another reasonable arrangement or waive the relevant charge.

Funded childcare remains accessible

Optional additional-service charges are not a condition of accessing an eligible funded childcare place. Children who opt out will continue to receive the funded EYFS provision.

CHOOSING NOT TO PURCHASE EXTRAS

Choosing not to purchase extras

Families may choose not to purchase optional additional services. We will explain the alternatives available so that funded childcare remains accessible without requiring families to pay the £1.76 hourly charge.

Food and meals 🍽️

Families who opt out may be able to provide suitable food from home, subject to the nursery’s allergy, food safety and storage requirements.

Care essentials 👶

Where applicable, families may provide agreed care essentials, such as nappies or wipes, instead of purchasing these through the nursery.

Additional activities 🎨

Children who opt out of optional paid activities will continue to receive the full funded EYFS provision and suitable alternative experiences.

No family will lose access to funded childcare

Choosing not to purchase optional additional services will not affect a child’s access to their eligible funded childcare entitlement.
